A legacy of the Thatcher period, Council Tax is the most regressive tax in these islands.

Council Tax levies almost four times as much as a proportion of wealth on the poorest as the richest.

Plaid Cymru wants to end this unfairness.

Across Wales, Council Tax bands vary significantly, with the average Band D property in Blaenau Gwent costing £2,078.20 per annum, compared to £1,533.31 in neighbouring Caerphilly.

The same is true of other parts of Wales where the average Band D property in Neath Port Talbot costs £1,996.15 per annum, compared to £1,729.74 and £1,753.52 in neighbouring Carmarthenshire and Swansea.

Plaid Cymru wants to create a fairer council tax system for all.
