Setting targets, measuring progress

The clarity of our economic vision will be matched and underpinned by clear targets, including on:

  • Ownership of businesses in Wales – making sure more of our economy is Welsh-owned and run, and that profits stay in Wales.
  • Jobs and the workforce – tracking the quality and number of jobs.
  • Research and innovation – supporting new ideas and technologies that improve productivity.
  • Closing the gap between regions – making sure all parts of Wales share in economic progress.

We will set up a new Fiscal and Economic Commission to help us set targets, collect and process relevant data, and measure progress.

This will make a Plaid Cymru government more accountable for its economic decision-making, and help to ensure that economic policy really does what it promises, including on increasing the number of Welsh-owned businesses and the share of profits kept in Wales, delivering decent work and good jobs, improving well-being and living standards, and spreading prosperity to every part of Wales.
