A schools estate that’s fit for purpose

We currently lack a clear picture of the full extent of the schools maintenance backlog in Wales, because data on this is not systematically collected. Some local authorities are not able to provide data on school repairs.

We will commission a national school building conditions survey to get a clearer picture of the state of the school estate in Wales. We will identify the most urgent repairs and upgrades, and ensure that there is a programme in place to undertake the work needed.
