Tackling waiting lists

Under Labour, almost a fifth of Wales’s total population is languishing on NHS waiting lists. This is placing intolerable strains on patients and staff alike. We cannot hope to secure a sustainable future for our NHS unless urgent action is taken to address this damaging legacy of Labour’s 27-year mismanagement of our health system.

Actions in the first 100 days:

  • Commission an independent review on the performance of the NHS in Wales – with a particular emphasis on the impact of waiting lists on population health
  • Convene an Elective Care Task and Finish Group, comprised of relevant experts, which will be responsible for developing a delivery plan, to be published by the end of 2026, on establishing up to ten new elective care hubs across Wales
  • Consult on the design of a telehealth implementation plan for Wales
