Tell us about yourself

I live in Aberafan and have been for 20 years. I'm married, with three adult children. I grew up in Loughor, Swansea and moved to Port Talbot when my son was three.

I am a self confessed bookworm, I love to read. I take an interest in local and nation politics. I've worked with people from every walk of life in customer service roles all my adult life. I am very much a people person and I love the strong community spirit we have here in Aberafan.

What is the most important thing you think the Senedd should do in the next five years?

We need to demand Westminster look again at the Barnett Formula and demand our fair share of funding from London. As a member of the EU, Wales was a recipient of a lot of regional – we now know that funding will not be matched by Westminster.

In the longer term, I believe it’s time to lay the foundations for Welsh independence to allow us power over our own economy and to make the lives of the people of Wales better.

What will you do for Aberavon if elected?

I would demand more for Aberafan – that means more support for new and existing businesses, more engagement with young people and more funding and support for the arts.
