Ann Davies says only Plaid Cymru will make the voice of rural Wales heard

A vote for Plaid Cymru on 4 July will give Welsh farmers a voice in Westminster, Plaid Cymru has said.

Ann Davies, Plaid Cymru’s candidate for Caerfyrddin in the general election, has said that only Plaid Cymru has a proven track record of standing up to both Labour and the Conservatives to put the interests of rural communities at the centre of policy making in Wales and in Westminster.

Ms Davies was speaking as she continued to visit farms across Carmarthenshire in the new constituency.

Plaid Cymru Candidate, Ann Davies said:

“Plaid Cymru will give Welsh farmers a voice in Westminster.

“We are proud to be firmly on the side of Welsh farming in face of the serious challenges the sector is currently facing.

“The Tories said that Wales would not get a penny less after Brexit, but rural communities are at least £243 million pounds worse off. Post-Brexit trade deals have allowed more cheap imports to undermine our domestic markets. The New Zealand Free Trade Deal threatens Welsh farming and food security.

“Plaid Cymru believes farmers should be given a veto to halt further disastrous trade deals.

“Rural communities will not be better served by a Labour Government either – with no commitment to give Wales the funding we’re owed and to give the powers over spending EU replacement funds back into the hands of Welsh communities.

“If elected as an MP, I will be proud to stand up in Parliament every day for Rural Wales. We need to elect a strong group of Plaid Cymru MPs on 4 July to speak up for rural Wales in Westminster to make sure the voices of Welsh farmers are heard.”
