"Knowing that I’ve been able to make a difference gives me a great deal of job satisfaction"

What drove me to stand for election was seeing problems in my community being ignored or dismissed by politicians that were meant to be representing us, but were failing to do so. I was fed up of hearing them defend the failures of government, rather than fight for change and fight for our local services.

As a Councillor and now as a Senedd Member, I consider it an honour to be able to work with, and support, individuals and organisations to be heard by decision makers, and campaign for change. Knowing that I’ve been able to make a difference, along with my team, and provide help, comfort and support gives me a great deal of job satisfaction.

"Wales is on the verge of historic change, be part of it"

I first decided to stand for Plaid Cymru 16 years ago and haven't looked back since. It was clear to me then that Plaid is the vehicle for the change I want to see both on a local and national level and it's even clearer to me that's the case today.

I've made lifelong friends, had support to progress causes close to my heart and am part of a formidable team that genuinely makes a difference. Being part of Plaid Cymru continues to be a very empowering experience for me.

If you're thinking about standing for Plaid Cymru my advice would be to go for it, particularly now! Wales is on the verge of historic change, be part of it.

"I wanted to give people in my community a real voice and fight for a better future for Wales."

I decided to stand for Plaid Cymru for the first time in 2024 after being an active member for a while as I couldn’t accept how things were any longer. I couldn’t watch our communities in Wales suffer while politicians failed to act.

Too many politicians seem content to recycle the same tired ideas, while people across Wales face growing challenges - struggling with rising costs, lack of opportunity, and limited access to decent work. I felt like Wales deserved better than the lack of vision and leadership we have had.

I’ve witnessed the toll that this neglect takes on people I care about - families struggling to make ends meet, young people unable to find decent opportunities, and communities losing hope as they face growing economic and social inequality. These are the realities in so many parts of Wales, and I couldn’t sit back and accept it any longer.

It was also clear to me that decisions made in Westminster have failed Wales, and continue to do so. Other parties and their politicians are unwilling to do anything about this and too happy to just pretend that it isn’t happening.

That’s why I decided to take stand. I wanted to give people in my community a real voice and fight for a better future for Wales.
