Ann Davies and Llinos Medi: ‘We are putting our promise to stand up for Wales into action’
Analysis of parliamentary activity from the 2024 cohort of MPs shows that the two Plaid Cymru MPs elected last year – Ann Davies (Caerfyrddin) and Llinos Medi (Ynys Môn) – are the most active first-time Welsh MPs in the House of Commons.
The 2024 General Election brought the largest influx of first-time MPs since 1945, with a total of 72,270 parliamentary contributions recorded between July 4, 2024, and July 31, 2025. Contributions were measured across three key areas: written questions, spoken contributions, and Early Day Motion (EDM) signatures.
According to PoliMonitor, Ann Davies is the most active of the 2024 intake of Welsh MPs, with 414 contributions, followed closely by Llinos Medi with 402 contributions. At the other end of the spectrum, the Labour MP for Clwyd North, Gill German, recorded only 36 parliamentary contributions over the course of her first year in office.

Ann Davies, MP for Caerfyrddin, said:
"Being elected MP for Caerfyrddin in July 2024 was a huge honour and a responsibility I have never taken lightly. I have thrown myself into parliamentary work because the people of Caerfyrddin deserve a voice that fights for them.
“I am proud to be able to fight on behalf of constituents. Over the first year in the job, I have secured meetings with Ministers for constituents who sadly lost their daughter – Greta Marie Otteson – to methanol poisoning, and for the family of Mike O’Leary who are fighting for a new offence of desecration of a body after he was tragically murdered and his body desecrated.
“I have also raised concerns about energy companies failing to consult local communities and highlighted the struggles of disabled constituents facing the loss of support. I have also stood up for farmers struggling with disproportionate tax changes. Plaid Cymru is putting our promise to stand up for Wales into action, and I will continue to challenge the UK Government to deliver for our communities."
Llinos Medi, MP for Ynys Môn, said:
“Plaid Cymru is putting our promise to stand up for Wales into action. We are determined that our voices will not be ignored and that we will make a real difference in Westminster every single day.
“With every contribution I make in Parliament, I keep the people of Ynys Môn and Wales at heart. I have repeatedly raised the need for a political decision on the Wylfa site. I have advocated for more government funding for tidal and community energy projects by tabling amendments to the Great British Energy Bill. I secured a parliamentary debate on the need to protect good quality agricultural land. I have also ensured the Port of Holyhead’s vulnerability to storms is on the political agenda.
“I am also proud that Plaid Cymru has pressured Labour to give us the same powers as Scotland, when I tabled amendments to the Crown Estate Bill to ensure our communities benefit from our natural wealth. Without Plaid Cymru, these issues would not be on the agenda. We will keep on fighting for Wales in Westminster.”
Ends.
