Plaid Cymru have accused Labour of not fighting for the interests of Wales after they removed Plaid Cymru’s motion calling on the Labour UK Government to include a variety of Welsh needs in the upcoming Budget.

Today (Friday 14/11/2025) Labour tabled their amendment to Wednesday’s (19/11/2025) Plaid Cymru motion, advocating for the deletion of all the Budget calls, including policies that are Welsh Government and Welsh Labour policies.

The calls, deleted by Labour, included developing a plan to secure a new funding formula for Wales, for Wales to receive the full consequential funding owed from HS2 and to devolve the powers over the Crown Estate.

Responding to the amendments, Plaid Cymru has hit out at Labour, accusing both Labour Governments of abandoning the people of Wales.

Plaid Cymru finance spokesperson, Heledd Fychan MS, said:

“Once again, we see this Labour Government in Wales roll over and abandon any resemblance of a party that cares about - let alone stands up for - the needs of Wales’ communities and what the people of Wales deserve.

“Plaid Cymru’s calls simply demand that Rachel Reeves’ Budget includes the things that Wales deserves, as a minimum. Labour’s decision to delete them from our motion will be met with disgrace and disdain, and I urge them to reconsider before the debate and vote takes place next week.

“The calls Labour are deleting from the motion are calls they used to agree with us on, and ones they happily made when the Tories were in power. Far from two Labour Governments ‘delivering’ for Wales, the people of Wales are actively being abandoned by Labour in Cardiff and Westminster.

“It is clear that Plaid Cymru is the only party that will stand up for Wales and fight for what our communities deserve. We stand ready to lead the next government here in Wales, by offering new leadership and concrete plans to improve public services.”
