No more eleventh hour changes for students awaiting results says Plaid Cymru

Siân Gwenllian MS, Plaid Cymru Shadow Education Minister said,

“GCSE pupils awaiting their results next week must be treated with more compassion than the students obtaining their A-level grades today and any changes need to be announced sooner rather than later.

“The eleventh-hour changes to A-level grading processes added to the tensions for young people awaiting their results during what are already highly anxious times. It is so important that the same thing doesn’t now happen to GCSE pupils.

“I welcome the changes that are in the pipeline for the appeals procedure which will now be free, thanks to pressure from Plaid Cymru over the past days.

“The new appeals procedure needs to be robust and independent and the new guidelines must be announced as soon as possible.”
