‘Labour failed to stand up for the people of Wales – that is the Prime Minister’s legacy’ - Plaid Cymru

Speaking in the House of Commons, Liz Saville Roberts MP said:

“The end of the Prime Minister’s premiership comes close on the heels of the end of Labour’s 100-year dominance in Wales.

“People simply didn’t feel that his party stood up for them – and it’s irrefutable that this too is part of the Prime Minister's legacy.

“There is a tradition of leaving notes on desks for successors - so will he leave a useful note to the incoming Prime Minister that respect and understanding go a very long way - and that democratic choices, including those of devolution, can’t be dismissed?”

In his response, the Prime Minister said:

“I shall leave a note saying that what we delivered for Wales in these two years was the largest every devolution settlement, the UK’s first small nuclear reactor in Angelsey, investing £14 billion pounds in Welsh rail, a pay rise for 170,000 workers across Wales and I’ll end the note saying that we’re lifting 70,000 Welsh children out of poverty”
