Migrants, Refugees and People Seeking Asylum
Plaid Cymru would retain the aim for Wales to become a Nation of Sanctuary, producing a new migration strategy for Wales with clear actions, timelines and budget. We commit to easing the experience of migrants and people seeking asylum. This would include ending No Recourse to Public Funds conditions and the elimination of healthcare charges for non-UK citizens in NHS Wales.
We would expand eligibility for educational grants to migrant children and young people, including Educational Maintenance Allowance, Free School Meals and the Pupil Deprivation Grant. This would give all migrants and people seeking asylum access to public services when they need them.
