Plaid Cymru Westminster Leader, Liz Saville Roberts MP, has said that “beyond the pomp and pageantry” today’s Queen’s Speech showed the “apathy” for Wales.

It is the second Queen’s Speech in little over two months, with the election being called soon after the first.

The Queen’s Speech, which is written by the Westminster Government, failed to mention Wales once.

Liz Saville Roberts MP said:

“Beyond the pomp and pageantry, Westminster once again showed its complete apathy for Wales. In a recycled Queen’s speech, Wales was not mentioned once.

“As always with the Westminster parties, the challenges facing Wales are forgotten once the cameras and electoral tours have stopped.

“This Queen’s Speech has no new ideas and fails to deliver the funding that was promised to Wales during the Brexit referendum. We don’t even know what will replace the funding we have received from Europe for decades.

“More than ever, Plaid Cymru will have a crucially important role in being Wales’s voice in Westminster, not Westminster’s voice in Wales.”
