Making Môn Proud Again
In a special Conference session, Plaid Cymru presented several party candidates for the May 2nd elections to Ynys Môn council.
Councillor Vaughan Hughes (Llanbedrgoch) outlined the party’s slogan “Making Môn Proud Again”, and spoke of the need to ensure that what he called “days of disgrace and shame” will never return. Cllr Hughes called for the residents of the island to elect councillors that were accountable to the discipline of a political party, and said that Plaid Cymru has the experience and vision to restore faith in the council.
The current Plaid Cymru Group Leader, Cllr Bob Parry, said that the priorities of a Plaid Cymru-led council would be to create a period of stability on the island, safeguard jobs so that young people can stay on Ynys Môn, and work with Coleg Menai to address training needs. Conference delegates also heard from impressive candidates including Llangefni-based veterinary nurse Nicola Roberts, former teacher Edward Morus Jones and solicitor Meirion Jones.
The candidates paid tribute to the work of local Assembly Member Ieuan Wyn Jones, and Cllr Bob Parry closed the session by calling for the county’s reputation to be restored.
