Plaid Cymru to meet in Newport for Spring Conference
Plaid Cymru will hold its Spring Conference in Newport on 3rd and 4th March, bringing elected members and local activists together ahead of local government elections in May. The Conference will be held in the Riverfront Centre, Newport, and set out Plaid Cymru’s vision to secure the best possible deal for Welsh communities.
Steffan Lewis, Plaid Cymru AM for the South East, said:
“It is fantastic to welcome Plaid Cymru members and activists from across Wales to Newport for Spring Conference ahead of this year’s local government elections. Plaid Cymru elected members and candidates will come together to share their passion for strengthening and improving Welsh communities and our local services.
“Quality local public services are the key to the prosperity and wellbeing of our nation. It means that our children get access to the best education possible; that parks and green spaces are available for all to enjoy; that our streets are clean and safe; and that our elderly relatives are cared for.
“Plaid Cymru has a proud record of local achievement. Where Plaid Cymru runs local government we provide excellent services and lead Wales in areas as diverse as social housing, education, and clean streets. To build a new Wales, the best place to start is where we stand, in our local communities.
“Plaid Cymru is a local party, fighting on the ground in communities to make people’s lives better on a day to day basis. The local government elections in May are an opportunity for people in Wales to send a message that our voices will no longer be ignored, that we will not stand by while vital services are shuttered, and that we can build a cleaner, greener nation. Plaid Cymru will fight to make politics work again for everyone.”
