Plaid Cymru Leader Leanne Wood will today launch her party's manifesto for the upcoming General Election with a pledge to 'overcome threats and seize opportunities' as the UK prepares to leave the EU.
The manifesto, which takes the form of an Action Plan comprising of comprehensive, fully-costed proposals to "protect, preserve and promote" Wales, focuses on securing a resilient Welsh economy and safeguarding the future of key public services.
Leanne Wood will praise the tireless work of Plaid Cymru's existing MPs in Westminster and argue that the stronger this team, the strong Wales's hand will be as negotiations to leave the EU get underway.
Speaking ahead of the launch in the Rhondda, Party of Wales Leader Leanne Wood said:
"This election takes place in extraordinary circumstances. Our economy, our communities and even our very identity as a nation face grave risks from a cruel and reckless Tory party.
"The Action Plan we will be unveiling today is a fully-costed, comprehensive set of proposals designed to withstand those risks.
"At its heart is a commitment to securing a resilient Welsh economy and to safeguarding the future of our treasured public services. Be it on tourism, farming, higher education or jobs, we are determined to overcome the threats and seek out and seize upon the opportunities which may come with leaving the EU.
"Plaid Cymru always has and always will be a strong voice for Wales in Westminster. Our loyalty is to the people who live here.
"Too often, Labour MPs from Wales have sat on their hands while a Conservative government pushed through measures to our nation's detriment.
"An increased Tory mandate in the Commons, coupled with a divided Labour opposition will once again see Westminster do its worst for Wales. We cannot and must not let that happen.
"A vote for Plaid Cymru on June 8th will guarantee MPs dedicated to protecting, preserving and promoting our nation and to defending Wales from the Tories."
