People's Vote leaflet should not include Labour - they are a pro-Brexit party

It is being reported today that the People’s Vote campaign has printed millions of leaflets urging people to vote for People’s Vote parties and have included Labour in that description – despite Labour being a pro-Brexit party and despite Labour’s manifesto failing to unequivocally support a People’s Vote.

Commenting, Plaid Cymru MP for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr Jonathan Edwards said:

“It is extremely disappointing to see the People’s Vote campaign include Labour in this leaflet.

“Let’s be clear: there is no conceivable way that Labour could be described as being pro-People’s Vote when its leadership is doing everything in can to deliver Brexit without one.

“Their manifesto makes a complete fudge of Brexit and a People’s Vote.

“Plaid Cymru is the only pro-People’s Vote party that can win in Wales. We are appealing to people across the political spectrum – and particularly Labour supporters exasperated at their party’s prevarication – to lend us their votes in this European election.

“As Gina Miller’s tactical voting platform Remain United declared yesterday, Labour is a pro-Brexit party, and the only way to stop Farage from winning is to vote for Plaid Cymru.”
