If I express an interest what happens next?

Firstly, you’ll receive a very big ‘Thank You’ from us for considering being a Plaid Cymru Community Champion!

You are not obligated to do anything at this stage. Expressing your interest is a way in which we can identify potential candidates across the country and how best the party can support them.

Soon after expressing an interest two things will happen:

  1. You’ll get to know more about being a Plaid Cymru candidate; the support you will receive throughout the process; and indeed what the process is for formally becoming a candidate. Our local membership, throughout branch structure, have an important role to play in selecting candidates. We’ll tell you all about it when you register.
  2. We’d also like to get to know a bit more about you. We’re particularly interested in empowering more women and candidates from under-represented groups to stand for Plaid Cymru. We’ll be in touch to ask for some information in this regard, and let you know more about the free mentoring programme which may be available to you.

Over the coming weeks and months Plaid Cymru will be supporting our affiliated Sections (Youth, Women, BME, Pride) to hold a series of information events online where you will be able to hear from some of our sitting councillors about their roles as community champions.

We hope that all of the information we provide over the coming weeks – whether online, on video or on email – will help you decide whether you’d like to proceed and be one of our hundreds of community champions across Wales.

So, why not register your interest in being a Plaid Cymru Community Champion today?
