Are you a friend of Plaid?

Not quite ready to be a member? Sign up to be a Friend of Plaid - only £5 a year!

Cyfeillion / Friends of Plaid is a way in which those who support the aims and objectives of Plaid Cymru to register their support, without taking the step of being a fully paid member.

Plaid Cymru is grateful to everyone who wishes to support us, and appreciates not everyone wishes to be a member of a political party.

A registered supporter, through applying to join Cyfeillion, is our way of helping you to help us.

What you can expect by being part of Cyfeillion

Joining Cyfeillion means you will be a member of the wider Plaid Cymru ‘family’ that works for the benefit of Wales and its communities.  Joining Cyfeillion entitles you to the following benefits only:

  1. Updates on Plaid Cymru’s work through our electronic communications and newsletters.
  2. The ability to join in Plaid Cymru’s campaigning efforts online and in the community
  3. Access to Plaid Cymru’s Clwb500 competition

From time to time Plaid Cymru may launch new initiatives for the specific benefit of those who have joined Cyfeillion, but joining Cyfeillion does not entitle you to any of the membership benefits and privileges outlined in the Standard membership level or Triban membership levels of Plaid Cymru which are outlined here.

Full, paid membership of Plaid Cymru provides a range of benefits and privileges which are only afforded to those who pay full membership.

The legal bit...

Cost & Refunds

Cyfeillion is a digital membership and the debit/credit card you use to subscribe will be charged £5 for the annual subscription when you complete the application form.

Your application for Cyfeillion will be rejected if Plaid Cymru has reason to believe that you do not support the aims and values of Plaid Cymru, and/or you were excluded from previous membership of Plaid Cymru or your membership ended while you were subject to suspension.

In the event of your application being rejected, your application fee will not be refunded and you will have no right of appeal.  If your application is rejected, this does not preclude you from applying to become a full member of the party.

Standards and Discipline Processes / application rejection

You will no longer be a Friend of Plaid if Plaid Cymru has reason to believe that you do not support the aims and values of Plaid Cymru.

These reasons are defined in Section 3 of the party’s Standing Orders, with the sole exception that Cyfeillion is open to those who are members of an organisation contesting elections in opposition to Plaid Cymru.

There is no Membership, Discipline, and Standards process as part of Cyfeillion.  Where Plaid Cymru has reason to believe you do not support the aims and values of the party, or where a statement you have made and/or action you have taken goes against the reasonable expectations of the party, your membership of Cyfeillion will be terminated.

A decision to terminate your registered support through Cyfeillion will be made by Plaid Cymru’s Chief Executive and Director of Organisation, Training and Development on behalf of the party National Executive Committee.  In such an event, your application fee will not be refunded and you will have no right of appeal.  This does not preclude you from applying to become a full member of the party.
