Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood has called for the deadline for registering to vote in the EU referendum to be extending following a technical error last night which prevented thousands of people from having their say in the upcoming poll on June 23.
Leanne Wood insisted that no one should be denied their democratic right to vote and urged the UK government to do whatever it takes to ensure that everyone who wishes to cast a vote in the all-important referendum is able to do so.
Party of Wales Leader Leanne Wood said:
"It is unacceptable that thousands of people were unable to register to vote last night due to a technical error on the government's website.
"The EU referendum on June 23 will be an important decision. No one should be denied their democratic right to vote.
"The registration deadline should be extended to make up for the system failure.
"I urge the government to do whatever it takes to ensure that everyone who wishes to have their say in this referendum is able to do so."
